Year 3 Blog
Here is just a flavour of some of the learning that we have done in Year 3 in the Spring Term. It’s been a very busy three weeks before Easter with everyone being back in school. We all came back excited and ready to learn and have produced some excellent work.
In Year 3, for our English, we were using the book, ‘The Day The Crayons Quit’. We produced some excellent writing, including letters, reasons why the crayons left and even our version of the crayons. We practiced our conjunctions and also thought about the feelings that the crayons might have been feeling about how they were treated.
For our topic work, we were looking at plants and what they need in order to grow as well as the parts of the plant. We identified the changes in plants and what we would expect to happen to them over time.
We then learnt about an artist whose work was inspired by plants and flowers, Georgia O’Keeffe. We used her paintings to inspire us to try her techniques and recreate some of her artwork. We practiced our sketching skills, painting and pastels to create a mini gallery showcasing both her and our art.
In Science, we are currently learning about light and dark.
The children in the photographs are drawing around each other’s shadows at different periods during the day.
