Introduction to Free School Meals
At Queensgate Primary School, we want to make sure every child has the best possible start to their day — and that includes a healthy, nutritious meal at lunchtime.
Free School Meals (FSM) are available to children whose families meet certain eligibility criteria. These meals provide a balanced lunch to help children stay focused, energized, and ready to learn.
If your family qualifies for free school meals, it means your child can enjoy a healthy, free lunch every school day, which supports their wellbeing and academic progress.
There are two types of "Free" School Meals:
- Means-tested Free School Meals — For families who have applied and meet certain criteria related to financial hardship.
- Universal Infant Free School Meals — For all children in Reception, Year 1, and Year 2, regardless of family circumstances.
