Our School

Working together for a successful future

Welcome to Queensgate Foundation Primary

Welcome to Queensgate Foundation Primary School – Where Personal Development is OUTSTANDING (Ofsted, October 2024).

What is it like to attend Queensgate? Here’s what Ofsted said: “Pupils enjoy attending this vibrant and caring school. They rise to the high expectations that the school has for their conduct by following the ‘Queensgate Code’. As a result, pupils consistently demonstrate respect for each other. They behave well and respond positively to instructions.”

Since opening in 2010, Queensgate has proudly maintained a strong track record of excellence, achieving Good or better in every Ofsted inspection — that’s four consecutive glowing reports.

As a two-form entry school, we are proud to offer a wealth of opportunities and high-quality resources that enhance and enrich our curriculum. Ofsted recognised this, stating: “All pupils, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), benefit from a vast array of activities, trips and events which the school organises for them.”

We are a resource-rich school, with one Chromebook for every two pupils in KS2 and 1 between 4 in KS1, a dedicated music and cookery teacher and our own minibus to support our much loved Out & About curriculum.

Ofsted described our personal development as “exceptional”, noting:
“There are extensive opportunities for pupils to develop talents and interests right from the early years. At the heart of this is the school’s Out & About curriculum. This bespoke aspect of the school’s work gives pupils the opportunity to better understand the island on which they live.”

In our Early Years setting, children thrive in a happy, vibrant atmosphere. As Ofsted reported: “Children in the early years settle well into the routines of the school. Staff model learning and how to use new vocabulary effectively. Well-selected resources support children’s learning.”

At Queensgate Foundation Primary School, we are more than just a place of learning - we are a thriving, supportive community where children are inspired to grow, explore, and achieve their very best.

Our Learning Environment at Queensgate

Queensgate Foundation Primary School is housed in a purpose-built, light, and spacious building designed to support a vibrant learning environment. We have fourteen classrooms—two per year group—providing space for high-quality, focused teaching.

At the heart of the school is our welcoming library, which reflects our strong emphasis on reading for pleasure and learning. It plays a central role in fostering a lifelong love of books in all our children.

We’re proud to have a dedicated cookery suite where every child learns to cook independently by the time they leave Queensgate—building valuable life skills through hands-on experience.

Music holds an important place in our curriculum. Our music room, located in a separate block, is well-equipped with a wide range of instruments. We’re fortunate to have a specialist music teacher working with the children two days a week, enriching their musical learning and creativity.

Physical education is another strength at Queensgate. Our strong PE department, supported by excellent facilities, encourages every child to be active and engaged. We participate in a wide range of competitive sports across the Island and are proud recipients of several accolades, including the prestigious Platinum Award for PE and sport.

We own a minibus that enables us to run our Out and About Curriculum. This programme takes learning beyond the classroom, giving children the chance to explore the Island through themes such as heritage, maritime history, and the environment. These real-world experiences inspire meaningful writing and broaden children’s vocabulary, with our dedicated Out and About teacher leading the way.
